If you have summer reading assignments to do for school, your book might be on this list! Many English teachers want us to read the classics, also known as "canon literature". (No, not like cannons that were medieval weapons.) These are books that have stood the test of time and are considered Important. Oftentimes, they share an important message or have themes that are still applicable today.
If you do have summer reading assignments for school, I recommend AFTER YOU READ THE BOOK, you wash the Crash Course Literature videos. John Green goes over some of the pertinent information on lots of different canon books, and it's super helpful. Also, John Green is just hilarious, so he may be more entertaining than your teacher (you didn't hear that from me!).
P.S. If you're planning on taking the AP Literature exam when you're a senior, you should read as many of these books as possible! It'll give you a helpful leg up!
