It’s like Handmaid’s Tale, but set in a world called Medio. Upper class dudes (who also run the gov’t) have two wives: one to be their partner in determining policy, legacy, etc. and one who is the mother of their child. Dani is a Primera, the first wife of Mateo (who is shady as all get out and cruel to boot). But Dani has a secret: she is from the other side of the wall and an illegal immigrant. Which makes her ripe for joining the resistance movement La Voz. Grudgingly at first, she joins La Voz. However, after realizing that marriage to Mateo and Carmen (Mateo's second wife, "Segunda") isn't what she was expecting, or trained for, she starts to reexamine her opinion about La Voz. AND her feelings for Carmen, a former bully of a classmate of hers. BUT I'm not giving away all the twists and surprises! This is a wild ride that has a much better ending (?) than Handmaid's Tale.
